Re: Question about Write/Read SPI functions for Edison (Mraa)

Sorry xblades,

Not sure what to tell you.  When I was playing around with the Adafruit display on the mini breakout board, it took me an unreasonably long time to get it to work again.  At times I blamed the level converter (which I still think was bad and I already trashed it).  But mostly I had issues where different IO pins I tried for the two CS pins as well as the DC pin did not work and/or strange things would happen, like either I completely lost wifi and/or terminals (including debug terminal) or they took a long long time to respond.  Like typing a command in the debug terminal would not actually be accepted for maybe 5-10 seconds.  I might have the command top running in debug terminal, which again took forever to update, but also showed almost no usage.... When things like that happened, I would try different pins...

My gut tells, me that everything in the kernel is geared around the Arduino board, and there are probably several drivers loaded (example Analog to Digital), that won't work on the mini board (or other boards like the sparkfun or Trossen Robotics...), who don't have the additional hardware.

Maybe someone from Intel ( JPMontero_Intel or CMata_Intel ) can shed some more light on this and maybe do some testing.   Some simple tests where you try out each of the IO pins that are exported on the mini board and see if you actually get signals and still have wifi and ...  Then try again with a simple SPI app, which IO pins still work?,  Maybe also with I2C, maybe also with Uarts, and likewise likewise PWM...

Personally I have been holding off doing much more, until hopefully Intel releases the new update, which I thought was going to be out by the end of last year.  I am hoping that they fixed some of the SPI issues....  I am keeping my fingers crossed!
